TECH NEWS – The Coalition studio has taken full advantage of the Unreal Engine 5-based graphics engine to create a demo of “The Cavern.”

Thanks to the recently unveiled State of Unreal 2022, we’ve learned incredible details about Epic Games’ Unreal Engine 5. At this conference, it was announced that this graphics engine would be available to anyone who wants to use it, although there were other surprises, such as Crystal Dynamics developing the new Tomb Raider with Unreal Engine 5.

However, the presentation didn’t miss the opportunity to show off all that it can do on Xbox Series X.

Such intent resulted from “The Cavern”, a technical demo created by The Coalition studio that took advantage of Unreal Engine 5 to explore the potential of millions of polygons. As you can see at the bottom of the article, the graphics engine allows you to visualise the most intricate details.

Kate Rayner, CTO of The Coalition, highlights this in an interview with Xbox, in which she reviews some of the impressive features of Unreal Engine 5: “This means that our artists can create assets with tens of millions of polygons, scalable to scenes with billions and billions. The details are just incredible, more than 100 times what was possible before.”

Of course, the tech demos give a first glimpse of the full power of the graphics engine. That’s why Unity has released its own hyper-realistic video that will leave no one cold, although we think “The Cavern” could be included in a compilation of 5 demos that left our mouths agape.
