Bob Odenkirk Would Love To Return As Saul Again

MOVIE NEWS – Better Call Saul is soon over; however, Bob Odenkirk finds it extremely hard to say goodbye to his character. He expressed in an interview that he would most certainly return to the franchise in a new movie.

It’s sad that we soon have to say goodbye to Bob Odenkirk’s Saul Goodman, whom we first got to know in Breaking Bad, as Better Call Saul is about to end this summer. However, there is a chance that the character will return for a new movie, just like Aaron Paul did six years after Breaking Bad ended in El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie.

There is always a chance for beloved characters of a series to return to the franchise through a new movie, and Bob Odenkirk expressed his interest in participating in one in an interview with Extra:

“I can’t say goodbye. It’s too much! It’s heartbreaking. I love them so much. A year from now, I’m going to be banging on Vince Gilligan’s door going, ‘Come on!’ … Oh yeah, [I’d return for a movie]. I love playing this guy. It’s a great joy. There’s never been a part that’s [as] well-written [as this], so I would love to do it again. Look, there are going to be new horizons and new characters to play, but this will be the apex of my acting career. It’s okay. I’m lucky to get this.”

Odenkirk wishes to be able to play Saul again and work together with the Better Call Saul family once more, despite the end of the Breaking Bad franchise. He would even ask the creators to make a Better Call Saul movie since he really loves the character. And it’s not impossible, given that El Camino was a big surprise in 2019, when nobody was expecting the new instalment of the Breaking Bad – Better Call Saul universe. However, Peter Gould and Vince Gilligan, the creators of Better Call Saul, didn’t confirm anything about this. Gould says he might return to the franchise once; however, he has different plans at the moment:

“Maybe someday, but personally I’m going to take a little break from that world and try something else, just to prove that I can,”

Gilligan agreed with his statement, emphasizing that Saul does have untold storylines still, but the series can function as it is now:

“I think that’s my answer too, there are stories left to tell, but it’s not proving something to the world, it’s about proving something to yourself,”

Therefore, we can’t certainly expect a new Saul movie; however, there is a possibility that it will happen once in the future. Until then, we can still enjoy the remaining episodes of the series. Better Call Saul season 6 will debut on the 18th of April on AMC.
