Electronic Arts Opens The Creator Network To Everyone

The publisher wants more influencers to do content to appeal to gamers.

So far, Electronic Arts influencers (who are part of the Creator Network camp) have joined the system via invites only. Still, the initiative is set to expand: the goal is to have more than five thousand people in the system by the end of the year creating content from EA games. They want to build a much more direct relationship with YouTube video makers, streamers (those who stream on Twitch), or podcast makers.

The Creator Network began with a soft launch last September. This initiative gives creators support and access to create more content around the publisher’s biggest brands. (For example, someone who plays F1 games, say, will have the opportunity to play the beta version of F1 22 before launch and get early access to the version that is ready for release but hasn’t yet received the first-day patch.)

Electronic Arts has used the invitation-only system to reach more than 97 countries, bringing together over two thousand content creators. From now on, they are accepting applications from anywhere in the world. And it’s not just YouTube, and streaming-focused creators who can apply, as photographers, designers, artists, bloggers and cosplayers can also sign up to the Creator Network. Those who get in will get priority access to the publisher’s games and, in some cases, early access. In addition, “EA monitoring, guidance and resources” will be provided to the successful applicant.

Electronic Arts have also launched a game feedback design council. This program “allows diverse player groups to share their thoughts on upcoming titles by engaging with the development teams throughout the design and implementation phases.” Even with all this, the goal of the Creator Network is to have more than five thousand active members by the end of 2022.

It’s too early to say what the result of this will be, but it will undoubtedly come with the proviso that they won’t be able to criticise the publisher in any way (e.g. for non-stop Denuvo use on PC…).
