Gunzilla Games has revealed some early details of its first game, Off the Grid.
Off the Grid is off to a good start, with Neill Blomkamp behind it, known as the director of award-winning films such as District 9 and Elysium – but few people know that he’s also very close to the video games industry.
Off the Grid will be released in 2023 for PS5, Xbox Series and PC.
We reported at the time that Blomkamp had decided to dive into the video game industry and direct a multiplayer action game with narrative elements. This would be the first effort from developer Gunzilla Games, which is already giving away some details on its official website. Thanks to this, we now know that the official name of the game is Off the Grid, which will be a “AAA Battle Royale third-person shooter” and will be released in 2023 for PS5, Xbox Series and PC.
According to Eurogamer, Off the Grid will feature 150-player PvP matches and PvE lobbies, spiced up with missions that can be completed simultaneously with other players. In addition, Gunzilla Games defines its upcoming work as “a cyberpunk styled shooter set within a dystopian future, plans to evolve the genre through strong emphasis on narrative progression.”
Of course, Gunzilla Games is making an offer so outlandish that it’s just icing on the cake, so we’re eagerly awaiting more information on the title that mixes the currently popular action game with narrative components. It’s also worth noting that Off the Grid is being developed by a studio that boasts not only a famous film director but also veterans of Ubisoft and Crytek.
