A Plague Tale: Requiem: We Finally Got A Glimpse Of The Gameplay! [VIDEO]

Shortly after its release in 2019, A Plague Tale: Innocence achieved cult status, with praise focusing on the game’s oppressive environment and dark atmosphere. A couple of years later, Asobo Studio revealed that a sequel, A Plague Tale: Requiem, is coming this year. The first trailer for the game focuses on what the main characters, Amicia and Hugo, have been up to after the events of the previous act, and the story seems to be upping the ante.

A Plague Tale: Innocence has been praised for the detail with which it builds its world, drawing inspiration from historical European locations, specifically 14th century France and the effects of the Black Death. This evocative narrative is maintained in A Plague Tale: Requiem, with some recent screenshots focusing on the stunning visuals and graphics of the locations players, will explore. To add to the excitement, Asobo Studio and Focus Entertainment revealed more details about the game at the Tribeca Games Festival.

Various members of the team are seen discussing multiple aspects of the development. During the presentation, various cutscenes are shown, giving insight into the situation the characters are experiencing. For example, the return of rat bites that have appeared on numerous townspeople in areas such as an arena. Amicia herself can be seen in distress, and the possibility that the curse that afflicted her brother Hugo is now affecting her too.

The presentation of A Plague Tale: Requiem also showed how the stealth and survival gameplay has evolved from the previous instalment.

Amicia and Hugo have to outwit and evade their enemies, although Amicia’s attack options have been expanded a little. This includes now being able to use a crossbow to shoot enemies from a distance and even perform various stealthy dismounting moves.

Other aspects of the game were also demonstrated during the presentation, such as the motion capture process behind some of the scenes, as well as the musical compositions.

A Plague Tale: Requiem will be released in 2022 for Nintendo Switch (via Cloud), PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
