In a recent interview, Bethesda’s Todd Howard confirmed that Fallout 5 would be the studio’s next big project after Elder Scrolls 6.
It’s finally official: Fallout 5 is in the works. While many fans are looking forward to Starfield – and rightly so, as it not only looks promising but is the studio’s first original IP in decades – others are eager to see new instalments in Bethesda’s established franchises, particularly The Elder Scrolls and Fallout. As Bethesda has confirmed the game’s creation, it looks like fans of the previous series will have something to look forward to in the coming years.
IGN recently interviewed Bethesda’s Todd Howard about Starfield. During the interview, Howard confirmed that Bethesda would be making Fallout 5 after completing The Elder Scrolls 6.
“Elder Scrolls 6 is in pre-production and, you know, we’re going to be doing Fallout 5 after that,” Howard said in the interview. Howard also said that Bethesda has “other projects” that they will also be working on, though it’s unclear what those projects might be.
This isn’t the first time Todd Howard has mentioned Fallout 5, but it is the first time he has given fans an idea of when the game will be released. With Starfield coming out in 2023, one has to imagine that Elder Scrolls 6 will be released a few years after that, so it seems that Fallout 5 won’t be released until towards the end of the decade at the current rate. Nevertheless, fans can still get excited knowing for sure that the game is on its way.
Fallout fans may have a long wait ahead for Fallout 5, but hopefully, Starfield is good enough to linger in its world until then.
Maybe there will be another Fallout project to play with in the meantime. It hasn’t been officially announced yet, but rumours are that Microsoft might be doing a Fallout: New Vegas sequel, once again with Obsidian Entertainment at the helm.
Whether there is a basis for Fallout: New Vegas 2 rumours is yet to be seen, but fans can expect Fallout 5 to arrive sometime after Starfield and The Elder Scrolls 6 hit store shelves. Whenever the game is released, it will likely be console-exclusive for Xbox consoles, so fans should keep that in mind. After all, Microsoft bought up Bethesda partly to provide exclusive games for Xbox consoles and Game Pass, so there’s no reason to think this game will be any different in that respect.
