The Witcher: Virtual Reality: This Mod Just Gets Better, Here’s The Latest Version! [VIDEO]

Based on the original The Witcher game, modder Patryk Loan’s work also improves textures and simplifies the combat system.

Many of us would love to step into the shoes of Geralt of Rivia and live out his adventures – lucky for us, we can do so thanks to The Witcher game series. Imagine if you could do it all in a unique virtual reality experience! Well, modder Patryk Loan has been working on the first VR version of The Witcher for years, so we’ll have the chance to get into the protagonist’s skin through a mod with several improvements.

As PC Gamer points out, Loan’s version not only allows you to play via HTC Vive, Valve Index, Oculus Rift and Oculus Quest using Oculus Link but also introduces some tweaks that improve the experience visually:

“Every detail, every addition has been recovered, carefully taken from the original game,” says the mod’s creator.

“We’ve reshaped and re-textured it, and then with detailed analysis and care, we’ve put it exactly where it needs to be”.

Many of these textures have been upgraded to 4K, and the objects allow for some interaction. In addition, the author has replaced the original combat system with a simpler one, described as “just swing your sword to attack your enemies”. In addition, Loan also notes that “you can turn your head at any time, so I’ve added extra content-based lore to almost all the cinematics”.

We’ve certainly become accustomed to the fact that projects from the modder community can significantly enhance the gaming experience. It’s worth checking around because there are also a lot of mods available for The Witcher 3 that tweak the animations, graphics and general lighting.
