MOVIE NEWS – In a TikTok video, Giancarlo Esposito revealed that he has spoken to Marvel about several roles and answered the question of whether he would be up for the role of X-Men leader.

If Giancarlo Esposito gets to choose which character he’ll play if and when he makes his debut in the Marvel Universe, the Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul star would play the new Professor X. Ahead of San Diego Comic-Con, Marvel was rumoured to be making casting announcements, including that Esposito would be the next Charles Xavier. These rumours didn’t come true, but they generated a lot of discussions online and many fans were ecstatic about the potential casting.

As it turns out, Esposito has apparently been in talks with Marvel, and while no specific character casting has yet taken place, the actor has revealed what roles he has been talking to the company about. He mentions Marvel’s popular main villain Magneto and Doctor Doom, who many fans have long said Esposito would be a fantastic choice for the role. In the TikTok video posted by @countdowncitygeeks, Esposito then names the leader of the X-Men as another potential character he could play.

“I haven’t worked for Marvel yet. I’ve been in a room with them and talked to them… So, there’s been talk of Magneto… Who else did they talk about there? Oh, Doom, Doctor Doom! And then there’s… Professor X.”

From this response, it seems Esposito has been talking to Kevin Feige and co. There are a few different possibilities, but they’re still trying to finalize which role would best suit the actor. Esposito has been asked to name his favourite of the three roles personally, and as he’s keen to try something new, he’s opting for the hero.

“I’m going to choose something a little different from the roles I’ve played before. I’m going to go out and share with the universe that it’s Professor X.”

Many fans are divided by the idea of Giancarlo Esposito playing the role of Professor X. Because he is such a skilled actor, there are fans who are confident that he could do the role of Professor X just as well, and that it would be interesting to see him play a character that is different from most of his recent roles. Meanwhile, other fans say it would be too difficult to separate Esposito from the “evil persona” he regularly plays and argue that he would be better off as Magneto or Doctor Doom.

For the time being, Esposito is preparing to say goodbye to one of his best-known villains. There are only two episodes left of the final season of Better Call Saul, and although Esposito has campaigned for Gus Fring’s character to get his own spinoff series, there are no plans to do so for the time being, leaving some gaps in the actor’s schedule. Perhaps this means it’s time for him to join the MCU, as Charles Xavier or perhaps another character, hero or villain.
