250 dollars. That’s what Purple Lamp Studios and THQ Nordic are asking that much for the collector’s edition of the new Spongebob Squarepants game.

It’s already a foregone conclusion that Spongebob SquarePants: The Cosmic Shake won’t launch in 2022, and we already know what the collector’s edition, called BFF Edition (short for Best Friends Forever), will include. The most significant surprise was that that publisher, THQ Nordic, even released a video dedicated solely to the BFF Edition, which is crazy, even from them!

The BFF Edition will include a copy of the game (which is already better than what several AAA publishers have done with their own collector’s editions in recent years…), a twenty-five centimetre/9.8-inch Cosmic Victory figure, a fifty centimetre/19.7-inch inflatable Patrick, a BFF amulet with necklace, four mini costume bouncy balls, four placemats, and the Costume Pack DLC, all in a collector’s box. We have to ask, though, is it fair to ask for $250 for this package?!

The sponge and the star have their Steam page up as well: “Wish-granting Mermaid’s Tears in the hands of SpongeBob and Patrick… What could go wrong? Sure, the fabric holding the universe together could come very undone, opening portals into Wishworlds full of knights, cowboys, pirates, and prehistoric snails. But that’s nothing everyone’s favourite sponge can’t handle—with the right cosmic costume! Everybody do the Cosmic Shake!

SpongeBob and Patrick meet the mysterious fortune teller Kassandra who gives them a vial full of Mermaid’s Tears. Legend claims they grant the wishes of those who are pure of heart… Naturally, the two best buddies get overexcited, and their flurry of wishes tears open the very fabric of space and time. All while releasing Cosmic Jelly onto Bikini Bottom and opening portals to strange Wishworlds. Now it’s up to our heroes to rescue their friends who got lost in the Wishworlds and bring back Bikini Bottom’s most iconic buildings. But Kassandra has her devious plan…
