The Witcher 3: When Will We Get The Next-Gen Version? CD Projekt Answers!

CD Projekt Red recently announced that fans would get a new next-gen version of the classic RPG The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt for PS5 and Xbox.

CD Projekt Red has been working on an updated next-gen version of The Witcher 3 for some time. Today they finally announced that an updated game version would be coming “soon”. The Witcher 3 is considered one of the best video games. Fans have been wondering how the game would perform if it got a modern update for PS5 and Xbox Series X. PC gamers have been using mods for years to improve the visuals and performance of the ageing game. Console players, however, have stuck with a version of the game that is nearly a decade old.

The update has been delayed several times, and CD Projekt Red originally planned to release a next-gen version of The Witcher 3 by now.

According to reports, CD Projekt CEO Adam Kicinski stated during a recent earnings call that the game is “still on track” for a 2022 release. Players can invest countless hours into the RPG mechanics of The Witcher 3. This will further enhance the title’s appeal to multi-platform players.

During the latest earnings call, Kicinski said that the enhanced version of the game is on track for a Q4 2022 release. In a one-word social media post, CD Projekt Red simply wrote that the new version is coming “soon”. All this was using The Witcher’s official social media account. Players have already seen the visual fidelity modern hardware can produce in the game. A recent video showed The Witcher 3 running over 100 mods on the Nvidia RTX 4090.

The game is likely to be released sometime before late December 2022.

The end of the year is fast approaching. CD Projekt Red will likely have more to share shortly. The developer has already confirmed that PS4 and Xbox One owners of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will not have to pay extra for the updated version. The same next-gen update will also be released for PC players. The update will undoubtedly focus on the visuals. At the same time, combat may also be improved. They are hopefully including the celebrated chopping system from The Witcher series.

The update will improve gameplay and graphics on all next-gen systems. It doesn’t offer any changes for the Nintendo Switch version of the game. Both veteran players and newcomers alike will have great opportunities with the next-gen version.
