Guerrilla Is Working On An Online Horizon Game!

The project will feature new characters and a unique visual style.

This isn’t a leak, so don’t treat it as a rumor, because on the website of the developers of Horizon Zero Dawn and Horizon Forbidden West, Guerrilla Games, there are quite a few job offers that hint at it, and even on Twitter you can read that the studio is not joking and is planning an online game with the IP, which will get new DLC for PlayStation 5, but not for PlayStation 4!

The studio wrote, “We continue to create epic solo adventures for Aloy. But there is more. A new internal team is developing a separate online project set in Horizon’s universe. Featuring a new cast of characters and a unique stylized look, friends can explore the majestic wilds of Horizon together. Join us in Amsterdam! We’re looking for talented people for our Horizon Single-Player (SP), Online Project (OP), and External Project (EP) teams.”

The animation department is looking for a Cinematics Animation Manager, a Gameplay Animation Manager, a Senior Character Rigger, a Stylized Creature Animator (OP), and a Technical Animation Manager. For the art department, they look for an Art Director (EP), a Principal World Concept Artist (OP), a Senior Character Artist, a Stylized World Artist (OP), a Technical Art Director, a Tech Art Manager / Lead, and a Technical Asset Manager.

For the design department, they need a Design Director (EP), a Game Design Director (SP), a Game Design Manager (OP), a Lead Combat Designer (SP), a Lead Combat Designer (OP), a Lead Systems Designer (OP), a Lead Quest Designer (OP), a Lead World Designer (OP), a Player Engagement Designer (OP), a Senior Character Combat Designer (OP), a Senior Gameplay Systems Designer (OP), a Senior Machine Combat Designer (OP), a Senior Machine Gameplay Designer (SP), a Senior Technical Designer (OP), and a User Research Director. Their programming department needs an Infrastructure Engineer, a Lead Online Tech Programmer, a Senior DevOps Engineer, a Senior Game Programmer, a Senior Infrastructure Programmer, and a Senior Tools Programmer. And for the writing department (all for the online project), they need a Game Writer, a Narrative Designer, and a Principal Writer.

So they’re looking for a lot of people, so don’t expect to see a game with a high chance of being released in 1-2 years, possibly using the live service model.

Anikó, our news editor and communication manager, is more interested in the business side of the gaming industry. She worked at banks, and she has a vast knowledge of business life. Still, she likes puzzle and story-oriented games, like Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments, which is her favourite title. She also played The Sims 3, but after accidentally killing a whole sim family, swore not to play it again. (For our office address, email and phone number check out our IMPRESSUM)
