WWE 2K22 PS Plus Extra is about to become a reality as the Take 2 wrestiling game is coming to PlayStation Plus Extra, but players should know that the game has been “tricked”, unfortunately there is some annoying news for the new generation PlayStation 5 owner for!
WWE 2K22 is coming soon to PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium subscription levels, but the pankration game has a trick that subscribers should know about before redeeming it. The December 2022 PS Plus Extra and Premium split will be available from December 20, and WWE 2K22 will be available on January 3, 2023.
The latest pancrat title from WWE and 2K features a redesigned game engine, refined controls and a massive roster of current and former superstars. Furthermore, with the release of WWE 2K22, the series debuted on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S last March. However, the next-gen versions of WWE 2K22 are more expensive than the base list price of $59.99 for the PS4 and Xbox One versions. Customers can choose the WWE 2K22 Cross-Gen Bundle for $79.99, which includes digital copies of the game for PS4 and PS5, as well as Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. WWE 2K22’s upcoming PS Plus Extra addition raises some questions for players interested in the PS5 version, and 2K has responded to press inquiries about which version will be coming to the game soon.
According to 2K’s statement to Push Square, WWE 2K22 for PS Plus Extra subscribers will be the PS4 version. A 2K representative contacted for comment did not clarify why the PS4 version was chosen, but the representative said that the game can be played on both generations of PlayStation consoles. If a PS Plus Extra or Premium member were to download WWE 2K22 from the service to PS5, the game would run as the PS4 version through backwards compatibility.
Since WWE 2K22 already has a native PS5 version on the PlayStation Store, the decision to go with the PS4 version has upset some PS Plus subscribers in the gaming community. 2K’s lack of clarity on the matter suggests that for PS5 players, the PS4 version is fine on its own. Games like SEGA Judgment and Yakuza: Like a Dragon will have PS4 and PS5 versions for PS Plus this month, raising even more questions about WWE 2K22 being added to the service.
2K should appreciate the opportunity to use PS Plus to bring more players into the WWE 2K22 community, and another statement may shed some light on the situation. Fortunately, PS Plus isn’t the only way to get your hands on the latest pancrat game, WWE 2K22 is often available for purchase on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S as well.
2K has yet to announce WWE 2K23, but the game is likely to be announced in the near future. The success created by WWE 2K22 over the past year has reinforced 2K’s confidence in its ability to release feature-rich and immersive pankration games. WWE and 2K should continue to delight fans of the pancracy with an even better cast, improved game mechanics and new features in the next game.
WWE 2K22 is available now for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
