MOVIE NEWS – Lady Gaga will play Harley Quinn in Joker 2, and the cinematographer says she’s a perfect fit for the sequel to the Joaquin Phoenix-starring film.
Joker has quickly become one of the most popular comic book characters of all time, and his star has risen with Joaquin Phoenix’s film. Lady Gaga has joined the cast of Joker 2, reportedly as Harley Quinn. Cinematographer Lawrence Sher recently praised Gaga’s casting.
The Joker: Folie à Deux is a highly anticipated film, with many believing that the sequel would never be made after behind-the-scenes discussions led to leaks.
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Joker 2 cinematographer Lawrence Sher had nothing but great things to say about Gaga’s Harley Quinn in Joker 2. “She’s going to be a really cool fit for this movie and will create a similar kind of magic that Joaquin brought by himself,” the cinematographer began. “The combination of the two will be exactly what we hope, which is exciting, and we’ll find magic every day on set. Hopefully, we’ll also have a bit of madness in there. We like when there is a little bit of chaos.”
Joker 2 will follow the first film’s events and continue what fans love about it. The new film will introduce several new features, most notably the addition of Harley Quinn. No word yet on what Bruce Wayne’s role will be or how much time has passed since the original film. The Joker has shaped the world of Gotham in his own way. He made it much more down to earth than comic book fans were used to, but he still very much loved. That said, it’s unclear how Harley Quinn’s backstory will be presented. They will likely leave out the acid pit story. After all, the Joker origin story has been rewritten. The character’s popularity has only grown over the years. Harley Quinn may return to the DCEU in the future.
The Joker is very popular, but some may argue that the character is overused.
Batman has a lot of villains who don’t get nearly enough light, yet every Batman-related thing always involves the Joker, as if he is a crucial character in every plot.
Mr. Freeze, Red Hood, Deathstroke, Clayface, Poison Ivy, Talia Al Ghul, the Ventriloquist, and Scarecrow are just a few of Batman’s other villains that could use some attention. Hopefully, fans will see more of Gotham and DC’s villains in the future.
