Avatar 3: Will Another Na’vi Faction Be Added To The World Of Pandora?!

MOVIE NEWS – The new region will also play host to a new villain in Avatar 3.

With Avatar: The Way of Water now a worldwide box office smash and officially a commercial success, news of the upcoming third film continues to pour in. According to SlashFilm, the highly anticipated Avatar 3 will feature a new region. This is inhabited by another Na’vi tribe, the “Ash People”. Director James Cameron promises that the Avatar franchise will include four main elements. While the second film strongly symbolises the element of water, the third film will apparently lean towards fire.

In contrast to the other Na’vi tribes, Cameron revealed that the people of ash are much less friendly and will likely play the role of evil.

However, rather than continuing with the same formula of evil attacking Pandora from the outside, Cameron reverses these roles. Now he wants to reveal the turmoil within the alien planet. As he recently told a French news programme:

“I want to reveal the Na’vi from another angle because [so far] I have only shown their good sides. In the early films, there are very negative human examples and very positive Na’vi examples. In ‘Avatar 3,’ we’ll do the reverse.”

How does the conclusion of Avatar: The Way of Water prepare you for Avatar 3?

In addition to the ever-expanding world of Pandora and the various tribes that all add to the overall story, Cameron has set his sights on taking the third film beyond Pandora to other planets. Later in the interview, he notes that Pandora is essentially the basis for the story of Avatar. The story will really take shape and accelerate from the third film onwards.

“We will also explore new worlds, while continuing the story of the main characters…I can say that the last parts will be the best. The others were an introduction, a way to set the table before serving the meal. But, obviously, everything will depend on how Avatar 2 is received, if it finds its audience.”

By truly expanding Avatar into a literal universe, Cameron is now setting the bar for the franchise to become much more than a one-shot story.

It will undoubtedly at least lead to the discovery of more new Na’vi tribes. And perhaps even the discovery of another alien race. The possibilities remain vast and unknown in Cameron’s universe. Beyond these many questions, we know that he intends to bring the story full circle back to Earth with the fifth film. That is, if the franchise remains profitable.

Avatar 3 has already finished filming but will likely have a lengthy post-production process. It is currently scheduled for release on 20 December 2024.
