Early gameplay of Sony’s upcoming Unreal Engine 5 action RPG has been leaked, showing a few seconds of Lovecraftian creatures.
A mysterious, unannounced, upcoming PlayStation-exclusive game featuring an impressively oversized creature made of filth has been leaked, and sources say it will run on Unreal Engine 5. It’s hardly a secret that Sony is working on a number of potentially exclusive titles and brand new IP right now, but getting specifics about these games has been impossible until now.
After building an impressive line of console exclusives over the past decade, only recently trickling out to PC, PlayStation looks set to continue exploiting the strategy for the foreseeable future. Specifically, the now-leaked ooze-themed title seemingly promises to tackle the action-RPG side of things, which based on available footage suggests it could be Sony’s answer to games like Outriders and Gears of War.
Similar in nature and format to Horizon: Forbidden West in its own leaked alpha footage, the untitled ooze game looks like an over-the-shoulder shooter with mind-bogglingly massive enemies. After originally leaking via IconEra, popular leaker Dusk Golem later commented on the Unreal Engine 5 ooze gameplay leak, adding more context. Dusk Golem claims that this sci-fi ARPG is much further along in development than the leaked footage suggests, and is already fully synchronized.
Furthermore, Dusk Golem also said that he has seen a lot more footage of the ooze game than the IconEra leak showed, and that he can’t wait for the developers to present it in a proper form. While there have been hints that Sony may be working on AR games in the background, its primary focus is still clearly on producing high-end AAA experiences for the PlayStation, and it’s possible (if not likely) that the now-leaked game will be in this will be a headliner in terms of its use of Unreal Engine 5 and the interesting-looking creature shown in the leak.
There have been a lot of Sony and PlayStation exclusive leaks lately, it might be worth pointing out. In December 2022, it was leaked that The Last of Us 3 was in the works. While you should always take such talk with a grain of salt, it’s also extremely likely that the company wants to make the most of its blockbuster IPs, and TLOU is clearly has a chance in this respect.
As for Sony’s PlayStation-exclusive game specifically, there’s simply too little information to say much about it. However, the fact that it is a PlayStation-Exclusive UE5 game is definitely promising. Fan projects like the recent Unreal Engine 5 Max Payne 2 remake show just how powerful and flexible this software package is, and using it to render massive, oozing monsters seems obvious.ű
