Xbox Chief Phil Spencer Praises The Last of Us TV Series

MOVIE NEWS – Phil Spencer, head of Xbox, had a lot of positive things to say about the HBO adaptation of The Last of Us, calling it a “fantastic” series.

In a recent interview, Xbox head Phil Spencer praised HBO’s recent TV series adaptation of Naughty Dog’s The Last of Us, praising both the TV crew and the original game team. The story-driven adventure game, which follows Joel and Ellie in a zombie-infested America, has been widely acclaimed since its debut in 2013 for its story and character design. The game spawned a hugely successful franchise with a sequel, comic books, and several canceled film projects. Now that the HBO Max series has recently debuted, Phil Spencer has nothing but positive things to say about the series.

HBO’s recently debuted The Last of Us series was received positively by fans and critics alike. The first reviews praised the performances of the series’ two main characters, with many saying that Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey show natural chemistry in the roles of Joel and Ellie. After the first two episodes of the series premiered, the series started trending on social media, even overtaking the ongoing NFL playoffs on Twitter. Now Xbox boss Phil Spencer has put his stamp on the Naughty Dog-inspired series.

In a recent interview with IGN, Spencer talked about the Last of Us HBO series debut, calling it a “fantastic” series. The Xbox boss spoke highly of the work that went into making the adaptation, which he called a “fantastic game”, and praised Naughty Dog’s own work in building the series. Spencer also had kind words for Neil Druckmann, feeling that the involvement of the original game’s writer and creative director contributed to the rise of the series.

Spencer’s praise for the HBO adaptation of The Last of Us comes after Microsoft recently saw one of its own flagships adapted for TV audiences. The long-awaited Halo series debuted on Paramount Plus last year to mixed reviews, with praise for the action sequences and characters, while the series’ writing was criticized. Halo co-creator Marcus Lehto was particularly critical of the Halo Paramount series, feeling that it strayed from “the Halo he made”.

The Last of Us is already a huge success, despite only having two episodes into its first season. HBO revealed that the series’ second episode saw a jump in ratings from its premiere, serving as the biggest increase in viewership for an HBO original drama. Warner Media later confirmed that the popular series would continue and officially greenlit The Last of Us for a second season. The Last of Us wants to continue the success of the start for the rest of the first and second seasons.

The Last of Us is broadcast on Mondays at three in the morning on HBO, the review of the entire first season of the series you can read it here</ span>.
