Ubisoft’s Ivory Tower studio has officially announced the next instalment in the popular open-world racing franchise, The Crew: Motorfest.

The Crew gets a new game! Ubisoft has announced The Crew: Motorfest. Although it hasn’t revamped the open-world racing genre, The Crew has gained a significant fanbase over the years thanks to two titles in the franchise. Many have speculated for some time that a new game was in the works. Now an announcement from Ubisoft has made it official.

The latest instalment in the popular open-world racing franchise developed by Ivory Tower was released in 2018 in the form of The Crew 2.

The announcement was made via the official teaser trailer for The Crew: Motorfest, which can be found at the end of this article. Following a similar tone to Xbox’s Forza Horizon 5, the in-game 4K footage showcases a variety of environments, from beaches to rainforest environments. These are all based on a part of the Hawaiian archipelago, O’ahu. The studio mentions that the new game will feature “a series of tailor-made races, themed events, and other unique challenges.” Ivory Tower has not yet announced a specific release date. But The Crew: Motorfest will be released later this year. You can register now for the insider programme.

Of course, the official unveiling may not come as a surprise to some fans, especially in light of a leak in November 2022 that hinted that the beta version of the upcoming The Crew will be coming to Steam.

It was speculated at the time that Motorfest might have originally been made as DLC for The Crew 2. Its scope eventually grew enough to make it a full-fledged sequel title.

The new game comes at an exciting time. The publisher has recently delayed and cancelled several upcoming titles from Ubisoft. Among them, for example, a battle arena PvP game called Project Q. In any case, the announcement of a new The Crew indicates that the company is actively trying to expand into the racing genre. Time will tell how franchise fans will receive the new open-world racing game. Ivory Tower will undoubtedly strive to meet gamers’ expectations when the game finally hits the shelves.
