A Whole Lot Of Preciousss Lord Of The Rings Games Coming In The Near Future!

Based on its latest results, the Embracer Group has announced that five Lord of the Rings games will be in stores by the end of the 2023/24 financial year.

Embracer Group has announced that five Lord of the Rings games are currently in development. These are expected to be in stores in the next few years. Embracer acquired the IP rights to LoTR last year, following the acquisition of Middle-Earth Enterprises by the group’s subsidiary Freemode. The recent announcement of five game projects suggests that the company may have big plans for the franchise, particularly in the video game space.

Of course, the idea of games based on Uranium Rings is nothing new, with titles ranging from 1988’s War in Middle Earth to LEGO’s Lord of the Rings.

Among these many offerings, 2014’s Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor and its sequel, Shadow of War, are widely considered among the best of the IP. The group seems keen to capitalise on the franchise’s massive popularity now that Lord of the Rings is under Embracer’s control.

In its latest earnings report for the third quarter of 2022, Embracer Group said it currently has five Lord of the Rings games in development through external partners. The group also mentioned that all of these titles would be released by the end of the 2023/24 financial year. This means that fans can get their hands on all five games in the next 24 months. While Embracer did not list the titles specifically, four of the Lord of the Rings titles have already been announced.

Most notable is Daedalic Entertainment’s Lord of the Rings: Gollum, which is scheduled for release in 2023. In addition to Daedalic, other upcoming projects include The Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria from Free Range Games. There is also a mobile game from EA and a title from Weta Workshop. This essentially means that there is only one Lord of the Rings game in development that has not yet been announced.

It is not yet known what form the unannounced game will take. However, many fans may be paying close attention to Daedalic’s Gollum. The Gollum-centric game, billed as a third-person action-adventure RPG is scheduled for release in 2023. However, it has been delayed several times since its announcement in 2019. Fans fear that Lord of the Rings: Gollum could suffer the same fate as Skull and Bones.

But the games aren’t the only LoTR-property on the way: a new anime, The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim, is also in the works.

In it, Miranda Otto will once again play the character of Eowyn. Also in the works is the second season of Amazon’s Rings of Power series. All in all, it seems that fans will not be short of Lord of the Rings content for the next few years.
