Hugh Jackman Was Permanently Damaged By Playing Wolverine!

MOVIE NEWS – Wolverine was an iconic role for Hugh Jackman, but the X-Men character also had its drawbacks, including permanent physical damage.

Hugh Jackman’s legacy as Wolverine in the X-Men films will live on forever. Having played the character for over twenty years, Jackman and Wolverine have become closely linked. However, Jackman says playing the character damaged his vocal cords. Jackman has played Wolverine since 2000’s X-Men.

After Wolverine’s death in the 2017 film Logan, and several statements from the actor, it was thought that Jackman would retire from the role before it was revealed that Jackman would return as Wolverine in Deadpool 3.

In an episode of BBC’s Front Row, Jackman shared information about the physical injuries he suffered while playing Wolverine. “My falsetto is not as strong as it used to be, and that I directly put down to some of the growling and yelling,” Jackman revealed. “My voice teacher in drama school would’ve been horrified by some of the things I did [in Wolverine].” Jackman further revealed that although his educational background provided him with techniques to prevent his voice from being damaged, he did not use them in the role of Wolverine.

Although Jackman is probably best known for his action-packed roles, he has a strong history in musical theatre and other musical productions. The actor has also hosted the Tony Awards several times. Having starred in films such as The Greatest Showman and Les Misérables, Jackman’s voice has been an integral part of his career.

Jackman has previously spoken about the physical demands of the role. Now he has just a few months to channel Wolverine and get into top form. When he was playing Wolverine more consistently, he had to stay in this form for longer.

This process is arduous for a number of reasons, including the fact that many actors are forced to remain dehydrated (to make their muscles stand out more) for shirtless scenes.

There is no doubt that Deadpool 3 will be taxing. But Jackman, it seems, is eager to return to his Wolverine role. His dedication and love for the character have proven time and time again that he has an iron grip on the character. Now that the actor is working with professional voice teachers again, hopefully, his vocal cords will be in order.
