MOVIE NEWS – Fast X will not only be the penultimate installment of the series, but also a nostalgic trip. The film’s director, Louis Leterrier, said that the story will take the viewers back to the original street racing world, which was the main attraction of the first film.
Fast X is the first part of the final chapter of one of the most popular action film series. The film continues the events of F9 (2021), in which Dom Toretto (Vin Diesel) and his family faced Dom’s lost brother, Jakob (John Cena), who worked with Cipher (Charlize Theron), a secret agent. In the tenth part, Cipher finds a new ally in Dante Reyes (Jason Momoa), the son of drug lord Hernan Reyes, who wants revenge for his father’s death, which was caused by Dom and his team in Fast Five (2011).
The film will not only focus on action and adventure but also on emotional drama. Leterrier said that the film will show how Dom deals with his past and his future and how he keeps his family together. The director also revealed that the film will bring back the street racing element, characteristic of the series at the beginning.
“Street racing has always been an important part of the series. It gave it the tone and the identity. That’s why we decided to return to this origin and show why the characters and the viewers love it so much. It’s fun, it’s challenging, it’s a lifestyle. But it’s not just a hobby or a sport. It’s a way of expressing themselves and keeping their community together,” – said Leterrier.
The director added that the film will feature not only cars but also other vehicles, such as motorcycles or helicopters. “Fast X will be a real journey. Not only physically but also emotionally. The viewers will see how these characters have grown up and changed over the years. And they will see how they face the last big challenge,” – said Leterrier.
Fast X is expected to hit theaters on May 19, 2023. The film’s cast includes Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, Jason Momoa, Nathalie Emmanuel, Jordana Brewster, John Cena, Jason Statham, Sung Kang, Alan Ritchson, Daniela Melchior, Scott Eastwood, Helen Mirren, Charlize Theron, Brie Larson and Rita Moreno.
