TruthGPT: Elon Musk’s AI “Probably Won’t Wipe Out Humanity”

TECH NEWS – Elon Musk, who has been donning increasingly Orwellian traits lately, is taking a rather… bold step with his idea.

Musk spoke to Tucker Carlson on Fox News’ Fox and Friends. Musk wants to create artificial intelligence that seeks the maximum truth, so he’s calling it TruthGPT. Musk thinks it could lead to an AI that cares about understanding the universe. Meanwhile, Carson says in a poker face, “People who take themselves too seriously, like Stalin… or Chuck Schumer, make me uncomfortable, and should make us all uncomfortable.” (Is this “right-wing moral superiority”?)

Musk essentially announced on Fox News that he was preparing a new rival to Google Bard and OpenAI ChatGPT: “I’m going to start something which I call TruthGPT, or a maximum truth-seeking AI that tries to understand the nature of the universe. And I think this might be the best path to safety because an AI that cares about understanding the universe is unlikely to eradicate humans. After all, we are an interesting part of the universe.” But in the meantime, we are somewhat disgusted by a Fox News text below that says something like “Elon Musk: left-wing programmers are training artificial intelligence to lie”…

It’s possible that Musk’s appearance was intended to attract the attention of the politically right-wing programmers (because it’s not enough to lure people away from Google’s parent company, Alphabet, or more specifically, its DeepMind subsidiary), but let’s not forget what we’ve been writing about Musk lately. It is possible that X, which could be the successor to Twitter, could superficially be an all-purpose app that monitors everyone. Similarly, the Chinese Communist Party does the same thing via WeChat.

Artificial intelligence is not bad in itself, but in the wrong hands, it can be used for the wrong purposes…
