How Long Will Windows 10 be Supported?! Unexpected Announcement from Microsoft!

TECH NEWS – Microsoft made a surprising announcement: Windows 10 will be the last version of the popular operating system that has been used by the world’s computers for more than 30 years. According to the company, Windows 10 is not a traditional operating system, but a platform operating as a “service” that is constantly updated and improved instead of releasing new editions.

As Microsoft prepares to sunset Windows 10, it may finally be time to upgrade to Windows 11, especially if you want to take advantage of more gaming-specific features.

The latest Windows client roadmap confirms that the current version of Windows 10, version 22H2, will be the last version of Windows 10, expected to reach EOS (End of Support) status on October 14, 2025.

Microsoft stopped selling Windows 10 licenses at the end of January 2023, so system builders will not have much choice between operating systems in the future. You can still find licenses from third-party sellers, but they are overpriced and often not worth the headache.

Windows 10 will continue to receive monthly security updates until the EOS date. This way, you can be sure that you won’t be completely without an update until the expiration date. However, Microsoft “strongly encourages” you to switch to Windows 11 because Windows 10 will no longer receive feature updates.

Recent Windows 11 updates have resulted in drastic performance improvements for DX11 and DX10 games with improved display latency, variable refresh rate, and AutoHDR for windowed gaming. More than enough features to put the taskbar in the center instead of the left.

If you don’t plan to upgrade to Windows 11 in the near future, the other recommendation is to upgrade to version 22H2 right away to keep getting the latest security updates.

Windows 10 was released in 2015 as Microsoft’s “best operating system”. The company promised that Windows 10 will be constantly updated and improved, with new features and security fixes. Windows 10 is treated by Microsoft as a “service”, which means that users do not have to buy new versions, but instead receive the innovations automatically.
