True, games will be released for PlayStation 5 before PC, so Sony is taking a different path than Microsoft in this aspect.
PlayStation Studios, Sony’s in-house, first-party studios, have repeatedly proven their skills. The quality of the PC ports is not always the best (most recently, the conversion of The Last of Us Part I was a disaster…), but Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales are positive examples. Returnal also made a PC appearance, and God of War didn’t falter either. (And it’s almost certain that God of War: Ragnarök will jump to PC…)
Sony mentioned in its financial report for its previous fiscal year that it would be bringing more titles from its catalog to PC. They didn’t specify which games they were referring to, but it confirms that the company is happy with PC sales (even if they lag behind PlayStation sales). As PlayStation Studios head Hermen Hulst stated that it is in their business interest to have at least a year between console and PC releases, Sony is unlikely to change this approach.
At the moment, they don’t have many games that have been released exclusively for PlayStation 5. Examples include Demon’s Souls Remake and Ratchet & Clank: The Rift Apart, but there are some excellent games on PlayStation 4 (but then Sony will probably release a remaster for PlayStation 5 first; something like that with Bloodborne would be nice to see…). Cross-gen (PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4) examples would be Horizon Forbidden West and God of War: Ragnarök. As both games’ previous episodes have already received PC ports, it’s only a matter of time before they are announced!
If Sony were thinking ahead, they would make their classic games available on PC. PlayStation Plus Premium for PC? Or would that be too much trouble for them? That leaves emulation. If you have the original game, it meets the definition of a “backup copy”…
