Bradley Cooper Cried When He Learned The Fate Of One Character In Guardians Of The Galaxy 3!

MOVIE NEWS – Bradley Cooper has admitted that James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 brought tears to his eyes.

Bradley Cooper has had a hard time coming to terms with the direction in which the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 3 – which you can read a review of here – took his character Rocket Raccoon. By his own admission, the character’s fate brought tears to his eyes.

Cooper, who has been playing the traumatised, foul-mouthed, anthropomorphic raccoon since 2014, explained in detail how he was able to anticipate the direction the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy would take.

He also noted that when he saw how it would play out on screen, he cried knowing the execution.

Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, Cooper revealed what Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 director James Gunn about the character’s fate. “He did talk to me about that initially, too, that he had this sort of end game for Rocket and us learning about his origin,” Cooper said. “You never know if that’s actually gonna happen, and then low and behold, we get to this third script, and I read it, and I go, ‘Oh my gosh, that’s exactly what he talked about.'” Cooper then admitted that watching the story unfold made him cry. “It was – emotional’s the right word. I watched a cut of it a while ago, and I cried pretty hard. I mean, it’s pretty hardcore. Little Rocket – he went through a lot, dude. He went through a lot.”

Guardians of the Galaxy had an emotional subplot from the start. The first film had several emotional moments, including Peter Quill coping with the tragic death of his mother. As well as Groot’s sacrifice to keep the Guardians alive during his attempts to destroy Ronan Xandar. The second part explored how Peter came to realise that despite his biological father being essentially a god, it was Yondu who raised him as a father. Unfortunately, Quill realised this truth moments before Yondu sacrificed himself to save his foster son.

The immersion into Rocket’s traumatic backstory is not too far from where the franchise has ventured in the past.

Moreover, it will not be the only emotional subplot in the film. While all signs point to this being the conclusion of the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise, the film will also see Star Lord attempt to rebuild his relationship with Gamora, the woman he loved and lost to Thanos’ actions during the Infinity Saga. All signs point to this not being the typical Marvel Studios film that fans have come to expect over the years. Of course, the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise has never exactly followed the MCU formula.
