Death Stranding and now Fallout: New Vegas, another “mystery game” to be revealed later today…
PC players with an Epic Games Store account can now get free access to Fallout: New Vegas – Ultimate Edition! This is the 2011 re-release of Obsidian Entertainment’s 2010 role-playing classic. The game is available now through June 1.
Fallout: New Vegas – Ultimate Edition includes the base game and all downloadable content, including four narrative expansions. These are Dead Money, Honest Hearts, Old World Blues and Lonesome Road. It’s perhaps not an exaggeration to say that these four story-centric DLCs are among the best Fallout stories of all time. Honest Hearts and Old World Blues are particularly well done, both in terms of atmosphere and plot. (This is from a man who, according to his Steam listing, has put 249.5 hours into the game – so far…)
New Vegas is widely considered one of the best games in the Fallout series, if not the best, since Bethesda Softworks took over the franchise nearly 20 years ago.
The next free-to-play game remains a mystery. According to Epic’s site, we’ll find out at 6 p.m. EDT what exactly it will be. The last two games have been such “mystery” unlocks. It turns out they are Death Stranding and now New Vegas. So there is a good chance this next one could be a pretty big AAA title.
Epic Games Store free games are available to anyone with an Epic Games Store account. You add the games to your library and launch from there. Epic has been giving away free games on a weekly basis since launching in December 2018. This is to encourage people to join the store (and play Epic’s own games, such as Fortnite).
