MOVIE NEWS – Filming on The Walking Dead spinoff Rick and Michonne is wrapping up, executive producers confirmed in a message to the cast and crew.
The upcoming spinoff of The Walking Dead, starring Rick and Michonne, has been completed. At least, filming is complete. This was confirmed in a letter from the show’s executive producers to the cast and crew. According to reports, the series will follow the title characters after their departure from the main series in previous seasons. Described as an “epic love story”, the series will follow Rick’s years held captive by CRM and Michonne’s journey to find him.
Now, TWDU Promos has posted a letter from the executive producers of The Walking Dead: Rick & Michonne on Twitter confirming that filming on the series is complete.
The letter mentions the working title of the series, Summit. They then thank the cast and crew for their help in rebooting the Walking Dead universe. The memo was signed by executive producers Scott Gimple, Denise Huth and Brian Bockrath. As well as Andrew Lincoln and Danai Gurira. The latter can also be seen as Rick and Michonne.
The series is scheduled to launch in 2024. It follows two other spinoffs, The Walking Dead: Dead City and The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon. In addition to the return of Lincoln and Gurira as Rick and Michonne, Pollyanna McIntosh will reprise her role as Jadis from The Walking Dead.
CRM will also take centre stage in The Walking Dead: Rick & Michonne, as it appears that Rick has been there for about ten years.
Although the series has been billed as a love story between Rick and Michonne, it is expected to answer some of the burning questions about Rick’s long absence. The series may also provide more insight into CRM and their role in the universe.
It is unclear whether Rick & Michonne will continue after Season 1. Initial reports suggest that this will be the start of a new adventure for Rick and Michonne. It also looks like the ending of The Walking Dead: Rick & Michonne will be a shocker. At least according to the reaction of the franchise’s new character, Lesley-Ann Brandt (Lucifer). With the first season already filmed, viewers will soon be able to learn more about her new place in the universe.
