The Witcher Season 3 Puts Geralt To The Test – Here’s What To Expect!

MOVIE NEWS – Season 3 of The Witcher promises to test the neutral stance of Henry Cavill’s Geralt of Rivia, but what does this mean for the Netflix series?

Throughout the thrilling narrative of The Witcher Seasons 1 & 2, one thing has remained constant: Geralt’s perpetual neutrality in the face of war and political conflict. He deliberately distanced himself from their influence. However, lead actor Henry Cavill has highlighted some of the changes his character will undergo in Season 3.

Cavill, star of The Witcher, admits that Geralt has so far been typically “very nonchalant about these threats of war and famine and the end times.”

Season 3 will see an epic liberation battle between the Elves. Meanwhile, conflicts between powerful mages escalate to dangerous levels. Despite this, Cavill believes that Geralt has faced far worse before. So he says: “Look. I’ve been there, done that. It’s not the end times. It’s just going to be another fight.”

However, season 3 of The Witcher will be the biggest test yet of his steadfast neutrality. For Geralt is fighting to keep Ciri, his surprise child, safe. “Now, there is a real threat,” Cavill told Netflix’s Tudum about the imminent threat to Ciri (Freya Allan). In the gripping Season 2 finale, it was revealed that Ciri’s birth father is the White Flame, and the entire continent is hell-bent on finding him to control his vast power or prevent their enemies from gaining it. “It’s genuine; it’s no longer theoretical – it’s practical. And it’s very, very dangerous. They are walking into the lion’s den everywhere they go.”

Although he has been mostly a lone wolf so far, Cavill feels that Geralt has taken to fatherhood “like a fish to water”. So becoming Ciri’s target has changed his perspective on things. Everyone expects him to give up his neutrality on the war and political issues. Throughout the series, fans have witnessed Geralt and Ciri stand up for each other, fight alongside each other, and remain steadfastly united.

“It’s quite lovely to see that underneath this cynical, acerbic, walls-up kind of nature is actually a very loving core,” says Cavill.

Despite everyone’s expectations of Ciri and the looming threat that changes Geralt’s entire perspective, Cavill maintains that the White Wolf steadfastly maintains his neutral moral stance. “It’s still very much intact,” Cavill said. “Geralt has seen how politics work out. A lot of it’s incredibly selfish. No matter which side anyone’s on, they’re doing the thing for them. He’s like, ‘Why would I pick a side when the same thing’s going to happen?'”

Season 3 of The Witcher is undoubtedly stirring up mixed emotions. Cavill’s remarkable performance as the titular monster hunter comes to an end. Liam Hemsworth takes over the role in season 4.
