Who is Ahsoka Tano? EverythingYou Need to Know About the New Star Wars Series

MOVIE NEWS – If you have never heard of Ahsoka Tano, then the series coming to Disney+ on August 23 could be the perfect opportunity to get to know her. But who is this character, whom we have already seen in “The Mandalorian” and “The Book of Boba Fett” and why it was such a big event for Star Wars fans, when was the first trailer for the series shown? Well, as they say, it all started a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away…

Who is Ahsoka Tano?

Ahsoka’s character first appeared 15 years ago in the 2008 animated film “Star Wars – The Clone Wars”. Anakin Skywalker’s young Togruta padawan is a brave, loyal and curious, but at the same time somewhat skeptical and grumpy character, who very quickly became an audience favorite and, incidentally, the franchise’s first female Jedi protagonist. In the animated series “The Clone Wars” (2008-2020) and “Rebels” (2014-2018), fans could follow how the reckless teenager turned into a powerful warrior, and finally he left the Jedi Order and lost his former master who turned to the Dark Side.

Living fabric on film screen

The animated series of the Star Wars universe and the films were previously developed separately, but after the acquisition of Lucasfilm in 2012, they began to think about the possibility of a live-action Star Wars TV series. At the top of the list was Ahsoka, created by Dave Filoni in 2008. George Lucas also supported the rise of a strong female character: he wanted a heroine his daughters could identify with. So the opportunity was there, but there was still a catch: Lucasfilm still didn’t have the technology, i.e. prosthetics and visual effects, to bring Ahsoka and her signature streaky “hair” to life. The solution ended up being Rosario Dawson, who expressed her admiration for Ahsoka many years ago and was finally able to make her debut in the Mandalorian series in 2022 – to the great delight of fans. But what happened to Ahsoka recently?

This happened before…

As is already known, Ahsoka Tano first appeared in the “Star Wars – The Clone Wars” animated series as Anakin Skywalker’s padawan. Little by little he became more and more experienced and skilled. However, he later becomes disillusioned with the Jedi Order after being accused of involvement in an assassination. Although Anakin sticks by her side and helps clear her name, she eventually quits the Jedi and continues her mission and fight against the Empire on her own.

In the Rebels series, Ahsoka returns much more mature. That’s when he meets Ezra, a young, talented Jedi fighting in the Resistance. He accepts the boy as his student, and in their joint adventures they meet a couple of well-known characters from the past: Captain Rex and the clones who survived Order 66, Darth Maul, and Ahsoka fights and even defeats her former master Dath Vader. However, at the end of the series, Ezra makes a self-sacrificing decision, volunteering to save Ahsoka and others from the Empire. However, as a result of this and a time tornado, he ends up in an unknown part of the galaxy. Ahsoka will be looking for him in the live-action series.

Star Wars marathon

With Ahsoka, another strong female character is added to the Star Wars universe, and the biggest fans have been eagerly awaiting not only her first live-action appearance, but also her independent series. In order to be sure to understand all the references and recognize the characters, it is worth doing a little sitting work on the couch. We recommend the animated series “Clone Wars” and “Rebels” available on Disney+ to the truly fanatics, but those who only want to get to know the character in a kind of “must haves in a nutshell” way, should we recommend the following sections:

  • The Clone Wars Season 5 Episode 20
  • The Clone Wars Season 7 9-12 part
  • Rebels season 1 episode 15
  • Rebels season 2 episode 18
  • Rebels Season 2 21-22 part
  • Rebels season 4 episode 15
  • The Mandalorian Season 2 Episode 5

“Star Wars: Ahsoka” will be available on Disney+ from August 23.
