Fallout 4: PlayStation Plus Users Got Screwed Again!

The next-gen update for Fallout 4 has been a real pain, not only for the Fallout London mod makers (we talked about that the other day), but also for PlayStation Plus subscribers who have been having trouble updating their Bethesda Game Studios game.

We previously reported here that mods were being destroyed by the Fallout 4 next-gen update, which is 14.4 gigabytes on PC. The base game itself was 25-30 gigs in 2015, so the update is bulky by comparison. And yet there are bugs (aside from the fact that you can’t even load modded saves and non-Creation Club mods), as there are no significant graphical improvements, the ultra-wide display support just gives you a badly stretched interface (and that needs patching, lol), and you still can’t get 60+ FPS out of the game. For those of you using a GeForce RTX card, the Weapon Debris graphics setup still crashes the game. 5 years after the release of the RTX 2000 series. Typical Bethesda…

But what about PlayStation Plus? It’s not all good here either, and Bethesda’s tweet explains what’s wrong: “We’ve seen some confusion regarding the free Fallout 4 Next-Gen update for PlayStation Plus Extra members. The Fallout 4 next-gen update will be available to PlayStation Plus Extra members via the PlayStation Game Catalog. We appreciate your patience while the teams work on this. PlayStation Plus Premium subscribers will also be able to access the update for free.

But only them, as a response from Bethesda’s support team on Twitter said that only “PS+ Extra” members will have the update. So PlayStation Plus Essential subscribers and those who have Fallout 4 from the PlayStation Plus Collection will either have to subscribe to PlayStation Plus Extra/Premium or buy the game again. How idiotic is this situation?

So PC gamers lose out on the mods (including the Fallout London release date), and PlayStation owners don’t all get access to the update for free…
