To the delight of many, Sega has finally announced the release date for Persona 3 Reload!
That’s right: it’s confirmed that the remake of the classic PlayStation 2 RPG will be released on February 2, 2024. Persona 3 Reload, first announced at Summer Game Fest, will recreate the original game’s graphics while making it available on modern platforms. It also adds new songs to the soundtrack. It also comes with quality enhancements, such as the ability to control the party, and other innovations. However, it does not include the story of the female protagonist of Persona 3 Portable, much to the chagrin of some fans.
However, once we had the chance to try the game, we appreciated the numerous other improvements beyond its mere availability. While Persona 3 was recently released on modern consoles, the limited handheld version lacked elements such as a fully explorable map. In this respect, P3R is a significant step forward for the series.
Persona 3 was first released in North America in 2007. With its group of high school students battling supernatural elements, dating simulator elements and unique calendar-based progression, it quickly distinguished itself from other RPGs. It gained a small but dedicated cult following, leading to further English-language releases. It proved influential for games such as Honkai Star Rail.
Persona 3 Reload will be released on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 and PC. It will join Persona 4 and Persona 5, which are already available on multiple platforms.
