Can We Still Expect Fallout 5? Todd Howard Has Spoken!

Todd Howard, creative director of Bethesda Game Studios, confirmed to IGN that Fallout 5 will be released after The Elder Scrolls 6. This clarified the studio’s long-term plans.

Todd Howard, creative director of Bethesda Game Studios, made it clear in an interview with IGN last year that the studio’s next big release will be Fallout 5, but only after The Elder Scrolls 6. All this is not surprising, since Starfield has only just been released.

Howard stated, “Elder Scrolls 6 is already in pre-production, and Fallout 5 will be our next project. We have a few other games planned that we review from time to time.”

Howard previously hinted that the Fallout franchise plays a particularly important role in the studio’s life. “Fallout is part of our DNA. We work with other developers from time to time, and we have a vision for Fallout 5,” Howard told IGN, though he wouldn’t confirm that for sure. will be realized after Elder Scrolls 6.

Given Bethesda’s current pace of development, it’s likely to be years before Fallout 5 becomes a tangible reality. Howard said that Starfield has been in the works since late 2015, so it took over 7 years to develop. The previous Elder Scrolls title, Skyrim, was released in 2011, and the sixth installment is still in development. The reason for the delay of The Elder Scrolls 6 was that the studio wanted to focus on Starfield first.

Howard understands the fans’ impatience and shares it: “We try to work as fast as possible, but we want our games to be the best they can be for everyone.”

Fallout 4 was released in 2015, followed by a less successful multiplayer version, Fallout 76. After many years of development, Starfield is slowly approaching its debut, during the unveiling of its gameplay many new features were introduced, such as the combat system and customization options.

The Elder Scrolls 6 was first mentioned in 2018, but so far few specifics are known. Based on what has been said so far, it is certain that the game will be an Xbox exclusive, according to Phil Spencer, head of Xbox.
