According to a wild rumour, Grand Theft Auto VI could feature Joe Rogan, former UFC commentator and media personality extraordinaire!
Grand Theft Auto VI could feature former UFC commentator and media personality Joe Rogan, according to a new rumour. This wild allegation coincides with another suspicious leak that hints at a possible release date for GTA VI.
After years of speculation, Rockstar has finally confirmed that development on Grand Theft Auto VI will begin in early 2022.
Br parent company Take-Two Interactive subsequently made some passing comments about the game, but nothing of substance has been officially revealed about the project since.
However, that hasn’t stopped the rumour mills from running. Most recently, the seemingly unbelievable suggestion that GTA VI could feature Joe Rogan was thrown in. The claim comes from Audioviser. Citing an unnamed source close to Rockstar, it has been reported that the upcoming game will incorporate episodes of the Joe Rogan Experience podcast into its radio content. The report did not elaborate on the matter. All that can be surmised is that the developers may decide not to include full episodes of the comedy podcast, which runs over an hour. But rather a more palatable collection of audio snippets.
It’s hard to take this rumour at face value, not least because Rockstar has so far parodied media personalities in Grand Theft Auto games rather than collaborated with them. It’s also a fact that Joe Rogan has repeatedly criticized video games as a waste of time and a “real problem of modern society.” This makes the claim that has now emerged dubious at best. His stance on the issue stems mainly from his personal experience with games – Rogan has previously revealed that he had to stop playing video games because he found them too addictive. So much so that he became an “alcoholic”.
Rogan is no stranger to video game cameos, appearing in three versions of EA Sports’ UFC series. For someone who could have been in a GTA game, the EA collaboration was a perfect fit for the brand. But even that partnership didn’t prove to be a lasting one.
UFC 4 was later released without Joe Rogan’s commentary, as the pundit had long been outspoken about his “hatred” of the experience of recording voice-overs for the game.
Of course, if episodes of The Joe Rogan Experience were to be included in GTA VI, Rogan wouldn’t have to return to the recording booth for another game project. Rockstar would presumably simply license his show. But between the developer’s track record so far and Rogan’s less-than-positive gaming experience, this whole rumour is so weak that it’s cause for scepticism, to say the least.
