Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty: Amazing Reviews – Has CDPR Finally Done The Impossible?!

The Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty reviews radiate the acclaim that CDPR’s ill-fated game has finally earned for itself…

Cyberpunk 2077 is expected to be resurrected soon. With the release of the free 2.0 update and the Phantom Liberty expansion, CD Projekt Red is expected to deliver on its vision for the game. The new update will complement this massive expansion, changing core systems like AI, perks, skill trees and more. CD Projekt Red has been cautiously optimistic about Cyberpunk 2077’s soft reboot. Reviews of the expansion have been published recently.

Although Phantom Liberty is still a few days away from release, the expansion reviews are incredibly positive, with a score of 90/100 on Metacritic after 27 reviews!

Why is this important? Cyberpunk 2077 was one of the gaming industry’s biggest failures at launch. It highlighted the importance of a polished release. But CD Projekt Red is trying to make up for it with new content and the 2.0 update.

Here are some of the scores from the major review organs:

  • IGN 9/10
  • Gamespot 10/10
  • Gamingbolt 9/10
  • VGC 4/5
  • PCGamesN 9/10

Even before Phantom Liberty was released, Cyberpunk 2077 had already won over many fans and became one of the gaming industry’s nuanced redemption stories. CD Projekt Red noted that the game recently achieved over 500,000 positive reviews on Steam. And positive reviews already accounted for 80% of all reviews in July 2023.

So, the stage was set for Phantom Liberty to wow the audience, and it seems they did. The expansion takes advantage of the game’s strengths and combines the best parts of Cyberpunk 2077 with new elements.

Bele sem merünk gondolni, hogy a Cyberpunk 2077 milyen fogadtatást kapott volna, ha 2021 végén jelent volna meg, maga mögött hagyva a PlayStation 4-et és az Xbox One-t.

What does Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty have to offer?

The latest chapter of Cyberpunk 2077 takes players to Dog Town, a new district of Night City. This location stands alone and quickly establishes itself as a memorable extension of the game’s universe. In the early parts of the expansion, players can explore slums and abandoned buildings. They can learn about the troubled history of this district, leading to an environmental storytelling that several critics have praised.

Other strengths of the expansion include new cast members such as Solomon Reed. Idris Elbra’s performance as the character was highlighted as one of the main strengths of the Phantom Liberty narrative. Cyberpunk 2077’s game systems shine in the new combat scenario. Following the update, new RPG mechanics will play a more prominent role in all firefights and encounters.

This blending of action and RPG gameplay will enhance the scenery and combat encounters presented in the DLC, which will be further complemented by CD Projekt Red’s level design in Dog Town.

Despite the many positive features of the Phantom Liberty, some critics have pointed out some minor flaws. In some outlets, the frame rate dropped. User interface glitches and other bugs appeared, which, when expanded, became minor blemishes on an otherwise exceptional experience.

It should be noted that CD Projekt Red limited video reviews to studio-provided footage, which led to some channels delaying video reviews until the day of release.
