PlayStation Plus: Long-Awaited Feature Coming Soon To The Service!

Now official, cloud streaming is coming to PlayStation Plus this month – exclusively for Premium members.

Sony officially announced the surprise news on PlayStation Plus social media channels and in a new blog post outlining key features.

Cloud streaming will only be available for specific titles, but more are planned to be added over time.

This will include games available in the PlayStation Plus Extra library, as well as trial versions of games for the Premium tier.

The games available include titles from the Extra Games catalogue. Examples include Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Horizon Forbidden West, Ghost of Tsushima, Mortal Kombat 11 and Saints Row IV, as well as Premium trials such as Hogwarts Legacy, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and The Callisto Protocol.

Non-PS Plus games will also be supported. These include Resident Evil 4 (2023), Dead Island 2, Genshin Impact, Fall Guys and Fortnite. This also applies to DLC for these games, which will also be supported for cloud streaming.

Several resolution options are rumoured to be available. This will allow users to choose how their game is displayed. The options include 4K, 1440p, 1080p and 720p. In addition to SDR/HDR, 60fps will also be supported. Players will also be able to record parts of the streamed gameplay. Up to three minutes of video and as many screenshots as they want. Provided they have enough storage space for all of them.

It goes without saying that cloud streaming features depend highly on internet speed, so the results may vary in terms of the gaming experience and the resolution at which you can play.

As for release dates, the cloud streaming feature will be released at different times for Japanese, European and US users. The planned dates are as follows: Japan is targeting 17 October, Europe 23 October and North America 30 October.

PlayStation cloud streaming is an exclusive feature available exclusively to Premium PlayStation Plus users.
