October PlayStation Plus Games Did Not Impress Fans, with Player Interest Dropping Significantly

The last three free PlayStation Plus games have not been a hit with fans, quickly generating the second lowest interest of the year.

October is a bit of a mixed bag for PlayStation fans. Sony held two big announcements last week, the first being a brand new model of the PlayStation 5, the downside of which is that it doesn’t come with a vertical stand. He also revealed that PlayStation Plus Premium subscribers will soon be able to cloud stream some select games as part of their membership.

As for PlayStation Plus Extra and Essential subscribers, they’ve got their next three free monthly games, as well as some spooky additions to the Extra game catalog.

The three monthly games were Weird West, Farming Simulator 22, and The Callisto Project, and according to fans, only the latter is worth trying. Despite this, none of this month’s offerings really wowed fans, and that’s reflected in the latest PlayStation gaming data.

Interest in the latest PlayStation Plus games is reportedly down 9.44% compared to last month, with titles such as Black Desert – Traveler Edition, Generation Zero and Saints Row (2022) proving incredibly popular with subscribers despite poor reviews and reception upon release.

While The Callisto Project was a decent entry, especially in October when gamers’ interest in horror games increases, it doesn’t seem to have caught on with fans, probably due to the consensus that it’s just a weaker version of Dead Space.

Fortunately, this month’s lineup of Extra games more than makes up for it in terms of quality and variety, and they’re all perfect for Halloween, with titles like Alien Isolation, Dead Island Definitive Collection, and Outlast 2.

So the situation has been reversed, but hopefully November’s PlayStation Plus lineup will be better in every way, so all subscribers will have something to play.
