Useful PlayStation 5 Upgrade Coming To PS Plus Premium Subscribers!

TECH NEWS – The new PlayStation 5 UI icon helps PS Plus Premium subscribers discover the console’s new cloud streaming feature.

Sony has added new icons to the PlayStation 5 dashboard to help PS Plus Premium subscribers find out which games they can stream. The new PS5 dashboard icon could be part of SIE’s efforts to improve the cloud streaming feature ahead of its North American launch.

The arrival of the PlayStation 5’s cloud streaming feature has been a long time coming: owners may recall that it was previously rumoured to be coming to the popular video game console along with Discord integration.

The latter feature arrived earlier this year. But it was only in October that SIE confirmed that the PS5 cloud streaming feature would launch in North America on October 30. Japan and Europe, however, will get it sooner. Sid Shuman, SIE’s Senior Director of Content Communications, revealed at the time that a number of games from PlayStation 1 to PlayStation 5, as well as game trials from PS Plus Premium subscribers’ game libraries and digital PS5 games, will support cloud streaming.

To help PlayStation 5 users better know which of their games can be played on the PlayStation 5 cloud streaming feature, SIE has added a new icon to the console’s user interface. Starting October 30, PlayStation 5 owners in North America should look for a cloud-like icon with a PS Plus logo under their games. Games with this icon, such as Genshin Impact, NieR Replicant and Cyberpunk 2077, can be played via cloud streaming. These games can be played at 720p and 4K resolutions, although you will need to have the recommended internet bandwidth to play them at the resolution you want. For example, Shuman recommends 52 Mbps bandwidth for 4K cloud streaming and 38 Mbps for 1440p.

PlayStation 5 users should remember, however, that they will need to have a PS Plus Premium subscription to access the new cloud streaming feature and see the new UI icon on their dashboard.

In addition, PS5 cloud streaming requires an internet speed of at least 5 Mbps to work. It also does not support PS VR2 games or PS5 games on disc. In fact, only supported PlayStation 5 games available as part of “Monthly Games” will be available for streaming. (Provided the game is redeemed in the month it is offered.)

However, the imminent arrival of PS5 cloud streaming is a boon for PlayStation 5 users with a PS Plus Premium subscription. After all, the console’s storage space is finite. True, SIE has recently released an update that allows PS5 users to double their console’s storage space. But this can be expensive and cumbersome. They must have the right SSD and the knowledge to install it. With this feature, PS5 users can play games without installing them on their console. This allows them to use storage space that would otherwise be used for other games or applications.
