An insider at Rockstar Games provides fresh predictions about the unveiling and release date of Grand Theft Auto VI.
While some predicted a 2024 release date for Grand Theft Auto VI, it looks like the highly anticipated open-world game could be pushed to spring 2025. More than a decade has passed since the release of Grand Theft Auto V. So fans had to wait an incredibly long time for GTA VI. Unfortunately for GTA fans, official updates to the game have been infrequent so far.
Rockstar Games has confirmed that Grand Theft Auto VI is in development but has not revealed anything else about the project.
A massive leak has also revealed other details that may be included in the final product. For example, that the game takes place in Vice City. Also, that one of the main characters will be a woman. But Rockstar itself has not confirmed these details. Unfortunately for fans who have been waiting for more information from Rockstar itself, the company has yet to drop a GTA VI teaser or trailer.
According to a statement published by Rockstar Games insider Tez2 on the GTA Forum, “several developers” believe that Grand Theft Auto VI will be released in the spring of 2025. However, Tez2 pointed out that Rockstar has planned a spring release window for both Grand Theft Auto V and Red Dead Redemption 2. Then, both were eventually pushed further away. As for when GTA VI might be properly revealed, Tez2 said:
“I predict an announcement coinciding with the celebration of Rockstar’s anniversary somewhere between late Nov and early Dec. And if not that, then a Feb announcement.”
Grand Theft Auto VI reveal and release date predictions
The spring 2025 release window would fit into the previously announced April 2024 – March 2025 GTA VI release window. True, just barely. Regardless, it sounds like Grand Theft Auto fans won’t have to hold their breath for the game’s release in 2024. The more likely scenario is that it will be released in 2025. However, it is not yet known whether this will be in the spring of 2025 or the fall of 2025.
Even if Grand Theft Auto VI is still so far away, fans can still expect the game to be revealed soon.
Rockstar’s previous games have received trailers well before their release date. History may repeat itself here. The Rockstar anniversary that Tez2 refers to in his post is the anniversary of the company’s founding in December 1998. The Game Awards happen to be held in December. This would typically be a great place to announce a new game. Fans shouldn’t have to tune in to wait for Rockstar’s next big title. Rockstar tends to go their own way with announcements. So, while it’s certainly possible that GTA VI will receive its debut trailer at The Game Awards, it’s more likely that it will be released independently of major gaming industry events.
