Zombies Game Mode May Yet Save Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 3?!

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Zombies is unlike the turn-based content beloved by old fans. But they can still bring back this gameplay in the future.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Zombies has divided the community as expected. Fans were already divided when the open-world zombie experience was announced. After all, Black Ops Cold War’s open-world experiment was also divisive. The debate has intensified in recent days. Most players seem to agree that Modern Warfare 3 Zombies is a good casual experience. It caters well to its target audience – DMZ fans and those who don’t like classic zombies. But that doesn’t mean everyone is happy. However, the situation may change

The generally good reception of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Zombies has fans worried that the turn-based gameplay may slowly fade away before eventually being retired entirely.

With the increased focus on Warzone even affecting Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3’s campaign, it’s an understandable fear. After all, time and resources could indeed be saved by providing more experiences like MWZ. However, while Call of Duty 2024 will hopefully prove that turn-based gameplay has a place, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Zombies could do so much sooner.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Zombies can still find a middle ground

With Zombies being a paid experience locked behind the premium edition of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, fully turn-based levels seem like a legitimate possibility. Although now that MWZ has been well received, those are less likely. After Call of Duty: Vanguard’s ill-received Zombies mode switched to turn-based levels due to community complaints, Treyarch may still throw in a level or two for turn-based fans.

After all, after Urzikstan, Warzone also confirmed that maps will also be coming to MWZ. It’s true, DMZ showed that even smaller tracks can be adapted to the formula. These would also be perfect turn-based maps. Fighting your way through somewhere like Rebirth Island can be a lot of fun. It could feel like an expanded Mob of the Dead, while Fortune’s Keep would also fit the survival gameplay.

Could Modern Warfare 3 add turn-based territories to Urzikstan?!

However, with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Zombies looking to attract new players and appeal to a different audience, Treyarch probably wants the course additions to stick to the unique style. Still, that shouldn’t stop the developer from adding some round-based options. Full survival tracks are probably out of the question. Call of Duty 2024 Zombies will likely be the next time the mode returns to basics. Something like Vanguard’s Void lens can be a perfect middle ground.

In Call of Duty: Vanguard’s Void objective type, players were teleported to an area where they had to fight three waves of zombies, after which they could return to the main map, where they could acquire equipment and perks.

Players could also stay in the Void and fight additional waves if they wanted. And the rewards increased as the rounds progressed. While this may not have been a perfect solution, it was still a good compromise. Something similar would be great for Modern Warfare 3 Zombies. Players could teleport to a unique location or a large building somewhere in Urzikstan where they must survive as long as possible. And the Wunderfizz and Pack-a-Punch machines are there to keep them going. When they are ready, they can trigger an exfilt which allows them to leave the area and secure a landing zone for a helicopter nearby.

Triggering turn-based gameplay can be as simple as activating a switch that opens a nearby portal. In fact, if Treyarch wants to, it can make this game type even smoother. Whichever option is chosen, some sort of survival option would make MWZ enjoyable for all kinds of players.
