S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart Of Chornobyl: Ukrainian’s Unbreakable Spirit [VIDEO]

At the PC Gaming Show, GSC Game World talked about several things regarding the full sequel to S.T.A.L.K.E.R.

First of all, there are two new videos. The first one features Strider, whose name will certainly ring a bell for fans of the franchise (he was a major character in S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat). There are several hints that this is not a reboot, but a continuation of the stories from the previous game. In the second video, Yevhen Grygorovych thanked the PC Gaming Show for the award, as the game won the most anticipated PC game category. He also spoke about the situation in Ukraine.

“This game is the largest and most complex game of our lives. It was ambitious from the start, but it has become the ultimate challenge. It has extreme meaning and a deeply personal connection for us, created under the most stressful conditions imaginable, including the pandemic, war, relocation, cyber attacks, life threats and more. The war in Ukraine continues. Those currently fighting on the front lines, including GSC staff, are true heroes. Not all of them were trained for this, they just couldn’t turn away. This game was important to us even before the war, but now it is a national project aimed at showing the world the unbreakable spirit of Ukraine. Today we celebrate our victory here, while in the future we strive for the ultimate triumph of our homeland. I am overjoyed that S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 has entered its final phase of development. Fellow Stalkers will soon reunite in the Zone. Thank you all for this award,” said Grygorovych.

GSC Game World was interviewed by the Chinese site GamerSky and the release date was discussed as well as the minimum PC graphics card requirements: “The final polishing of the game will take some time. We want to release our game at the highest level as soon as possible. However, due to the size and complexity of the open world, there are thousands of details that can go wrong. We are taking our time to fix them. The product is polished. There’s never enough time for a game developer, and it’s hard to say how close we are to truly “finishing” a game.

The Xbox Series X version has two picture modes, performance and quality, for players to choose from. Our goal is to achieve a frame rate of 60fps in performance mode. We are still optimizing the game as to what resolution this number of frames corresponds to, and the final screen specifications are still uncertain. The PC hardware requirements are quite flexible. The minimum configuration we are currently pursuing is an [Nvidia GeForce] GTX 1060. At this point, the game will run, but the graphics may not reach the highest level. The game is currently in beta and we will announce the official hardware requirements closer to the release,” the Ukrainian studio said.

Running on Unreal Engine 5, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl is coming to Xbox Series and PC in the first quarter of 2024 (it will also be on Game Pass), and has about a quarter of Xbox exclusivity.
