The latest trailer for Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth presents the game’s brand-new theme song.

Today, during The Game Awards, Square Enix made a surprise appearance with a new trailer for Final Fantasy 7: Rebirth. In it, it features a brand new theme song and more highly anticipated moments from the next chapter of the story.

Honestly, that seems like plenty. Given that we’ve already seen quite a bit of Rebirth. The Red XIII narrative trailer from November revealed a lot of new details. Then, we got a practical preview of the game in the fall. In fact, at this point, we’re just waiting for the game to finally be released! Still, the new trailer did an excellent job of confronting the concern at the heart of Rebirth: will the future really change? Square Enix has been toying with us on this point for a while now, with the reintroduction of Crisis Core protagonist (and presumably deceased at the time of FF7) Zack Fair.

It all leads to the big question at the heart of Rebirth: Will Aerith die again with the most infamous video game death of all time?

Or, if she survives, will the world survive with her? Final Fantasy 7 has big questions to contend with in a multi-part remake that could change everything.

Final Fantasy 7: Rebirth is scheduled to be released soon – February 29, 2024. It will be exclusive to PlayStation upon release. We’re pretty excited, considering its critically acclaimed predecessor, Final Fantasy 7: Remake, which did a fantastic job of letting me relive (part of) a classic while still standing as an excellent RPG in its own right. It won’t be easy to rise to the task. But if they are, the Square Enix developers have a good chance to succeed.
