Two Game Updates Delayed Until Next Year!

One will get a New Game+ update, and the other will get a current-gen graphics tune-up that won’t be released until 2024.

Insomniac Games was previously scheduled to release the New Game+ update for the currently PlayStation 5-exclusive Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 in late 2023, but according to a statement from the studio, that won’t happen until early 2024 as the team needs some time to complete proper testing: “Hey webheads, we have some news about the next game update for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. We know players have been eagerly anticipating features like New Game+ and Audio Descriptions, among many others. We have been working diligently on these features and need more testing to ensure the quality is up to our standards.

We’re now targeting early 2024 for the next game update, and we’ll have a full list of features closer to release. We’ve heard your feedback and will be adding some highly requested features, including the ability to change the time of day, switch vine colors, and replay missions – just to name a few! We can’t wait to share more with you in the future. In the meantime, we appreciate your patience as our team works to complete our next update for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2,” the studio wrote.

In comparison, Bethesda Game Studios didn’t take long to announce an update for Fallout 4 called the Next-Gen Update. This will give the game stronger visuals for PlayStation 5, Xbox series and PC, but it’s the same as Spider-Man: the update was originally scheduled for 2023, but has been moved to 2024. The update will be free on both consoles and will offer higher frame rates with Performance Mode and 4K resolution gameplay with Quality Mode, but will also include bug fixes and Creation Club content.

“Thank you for your patience with us as we work on the next-gen update for Fallout 4. We know you’re excited, and so are we! But we need a little more time and look forward to an exciting return to the Commonwealth in 2024,” wrote the Fallout Twitter account. Looks like there will be a few more delays this year.
