A frustrating firmware issue affecting many Baldur’s Gate 3 player saves on Xbox has received a temporary fix from Larian Studios.
The firmware issue affecting Baldur’s Gate 3 player saves on Xbox has now received a temporary fix from Larian Studios that should help those players. BG3’s Xbox save issues have been plaguing the game for days now. But this trick from Larian Studios will hopefully bring some relief.
It’s no secret that Baldur’s Gate 3 is one of the most talked-about games of 2023. It’s been an excellent year for Larian Studios, culminating in BG3 winning Game of the Year. The RPG has been a massive hit with many PC and PS5 fans. However, Xbox fans had to wait a little longer than everyone else. After the game performed well at the Game Awards on December 7th, Larian Studios revealed after the awards show that BG3 is finally available on Xbox.
Although Baldur’s Gate 3 has finally arrived on Xbox, a firmware bug prevented some players from properly saving their progress.
Fortunately, Larian Studios has revealed a temporary patch for Baldur’s Gate 3 players via their official Twitter. At least until Microsoft officially fixes the problem. Affected Xbox players must create a Larian account. Furthermore, they must follow a series of instructions to save their gameplay effectively. The method isn’t perfect, but at least it’s a workaround until Microsoft fixes the firmware issue that’s causing the error.
How to fix the temporary Baldur’s Gate 3 Xbox save issue:
- After creating your Larian account, select Options in the main menu. Then activate the Cross-Save function under Gameplay. This will link your Larian account to your Xbox account.
- The player’s last 5 Baldur’s Gate 3 saves will be uploaded to Larian’s servers. The upload is complete when “Syncing cloud save” is no longer visible. Players should not exit the game before this has happened.
- If players encounter a firmware bug, activating Cross-Save in the Options menu will allow players to access their most recent successful saves.
While this isn’t quite the fix that many Xbox players were hoping for, it’s great that Larian Studios is trying to offer players a solution. Until everything is officially resolved. Microsoft already had to fix BG3’s save issues. It’s unfortunate that the problem still exists. However, until the firmware issue is fixed, at least there is a workable solution, even if it’s a bit cumbersome…
