Netflix is looking into introducing in-game ads to its gaming service. Premium games that charge more can also be added to the platform for an additional fee.

According to a Wall Street Journal report, the company’s top bosses were “in discussions.” More so, about the possibility of integrating advertisements into the streaming giant’s limited but growing selection of games.

According to reports, Netflix would only introduce ads to users who already see ads as part of their subscription, which is true for users of lower-priced, ad-supported models.

Elsewhere, the report suggests that the service could start offering bigger titles for a premium. This is opposed to the current model, where games are included in the subscription.

Netflix’s game offering launched in 2021 and will have nearly 90 games by the end of the year. Among them are Grand Theft Auto Trilogy – The Definitive Edition, which launches on Thursday, and Football Manager 24 Mobile.

According to the company’s data, nearly 90 more games are being developed. Among them are titles like Braid: Anniversary Edition, Hades, Monument Valley 1 & 2 and Paper Trail.

Last year, they also took the first step towards making games playable on TVs and PCs when it launched a test in the US, UK and Canada.

“By year’s end, we’ll have 86 games available – all included with every Netflix membership without ads, in-app purchases or extra fees,” wrote Netflix’s games VP, Mike Verdu. “And with nearly 90 more games in development, we ‘re just getting started.”
