Could The Improved PS5 DualSense Controller Arrive?!

TECH NEWS – An improved version of the PS5 DualSense controller has appeared online, attracting the attention of gamers who want a longer battery life.

An improved version of the innovative PS5 DualSense controller has appeared on the Internet! This is especially exciting because of the significantly improved battery life. The hallmarks of Sony’s latest PlayStation controller are, of course, haptic feedback and adaptive triggers. Many games take advantage of the unique features of the DS to increase player immersion. However, one of the downsides of haptic features is that they can affect battery life.

While the wireless DualSense controller is reported to offer 6-12 hours of playtime, Sony advertises that the battery life is the same as that of the DualShock 4, which is around 4-8 hours.

However, many users have reported that only two hours pass between charges. This number will only decrease over time. Because frequent use and ageing eat up the life of a rechargeable battery.

A listing for the PlayStation 5 V2 DualSense Wireless Controller has appeared on Best Buy Canada’s website. (Admittedly, at the time of writing, it is marked as out of stock for both pickup and delivery.) The V2 has a different model number than the regular DS. The price seems to be 89.99 CAD dollars (approx. HUF 23,300). The difference lies in the advertised 12 hours of battery life, which, if accurate, would be a boon for many PS5 players who like to play for longer periods of time. (Or they just sometimes forget to plug in their controller between gaming sessions, like I do…)

What’s new in the PS5 V2 DualSense Controller?

Another notable difference is that the PS5 DualSense charging station, which is usually sold separately, is included with the V2, according to Best Buy Canada’s listing. Other than those two specs, the current DS controller and the V2 look exactly the same. As for the dimensions, their width, height, depth and weight are the same.

Of course, it’s essential to keep in mind that the listing for the V2 DualSense controller may be incorrect and may not actually represent a new peripheral.

In fact, due to the included charging station, some believe this listing simply means a special controller pack they plan to release in the future.

Rumours that Sony is working on a new version of the DualSense controller resurfaced in late November 2023. Back then, a patent was filed that introduced some interesting new features for the already ground-breaking peripheral. These include machine learning. The latter monitors the player’s performance and determines whether he may need help. It then illuminates the surface of the controller’s buttons for gameplay hints. It’s worth noting that none of the new features listed in the previously filed patents appear on the V2 DS Best Buy Canada listing.
