MOVIE NEWS – It has been revealed who will portray Abby and Dina, the two essential characters of the second season of HBO’s hit The Last of Us series, based on Naughty Dog’s fascinating games…

 

 

The Last of Us didn’t find just anyone for the role of Dina: Isabela Merced joined the second season of the hit HBO series!

“Dina is warm, brilliant, wild, funny, moral, dangerous and instantly lovable,” said series co-creators Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann.

“You can search forever for an actor who effortlessly embodies all of those things, or you can find Isabela Merced right away. We couldn’t be prouder to have her join our family.”

Dina is described as “a free-wheeling spirit whose devotion to Ellie will be tested by the brutality of the world they inhabit.”

Merced has appeared in several films in recent years, including Rosaline. Her other film credits include the title role in the live-action film Dora and the Lost City of Gold and the Instant Family with Mark Wahlberg and Rose Byrne, the remake of Father of the Bride, Sicario: Day of the Soldado and Transformers: The Last Knight. She also has several prominent movie roles on the horizon, including playing Hawkgirl in Superman: Legacy. Also has a role in Alien: Romulus and a leading role in Madame Web.

 

 

 

 

It has finally been decided who will play Abby in The Last of Us Season 2

 

In this case, the rumours turned out to be true. HBO has found Abby, who may prove to be a major character in The Last of Us, at least for the next season or two. (After all, the plan is to split the second game…)

And that actress is none other than Kaitlyn Dever, who has been rumoured for weeks to take on the highly controversial role of Abby, which still divides fans of the game series.

Dever broke into the public consciousness with the movie Booksmart. Since then, she has starred in films such as No One Will Save You and series such as The Incredibles and Dopesick, where she demonstrated exceptional acting skills. She is also no stranger to Naughty Dog, which gave a lot of weight to these rumours. She played Cassie in Uncharted 4 (leading to some rumblings that she might even star in a new game). In fact, it is said that she was also considered for the role of Ellie in the HBO series that year!

 

 

 

 

Dever was initially rumoured for the role of Ellie simply because of her close resemblance to the game character, but the series chose Bella Ramsey instead.

Abby, however, let’s face it, is quite a different figure. It is questionable whether the 170 cm (5’2”) Dever, who is not a bodybuilder, will be able to reach the level to approach Abby’s dimensions physically. Because in Abby’s case, physicality plays a significant role in her character in the game. This is not clear yet. But we’ve seen Bella Ramsey train to become a more muscular version of Ellie for Season 2, so we’d bet that Dever will be undergoing some sort of treatment as well. In any case, the acting qualities are a given, so we eagerly await the final result…
