Square Enix makes a surprise appearance during the recent Xbox Developer Direct, showing off an upcoming game and hinting at its release window.
Square Enix recently revealed during the Xbox Developer Direct that Visions of Mana will be coming to Xbox this summer! The appearance of Visions of Mana was one of the biggest surprises of the event.
Visions of Mana was initially announced last month during The Game Awards. The new entry in the Mana franchise was then given a short trailer that introduced a bit of the world and combat. However, the trailer didn’t reveal much in-depth information about gameplay or a possible release date.
During a surprise appearance at the Xbox Developer Direct, Square Enix revealed new details about the upcoming Visions of Mana, confirming a summer 2024 release.
The company presented a video in which the developers talked about the upcoming title for over six minutes. We can also see new gameplay footage. (See at the end of the article!) In the video, series producer Masaru Oyamada discussed the action RPG’s combat and exploration. He also announced that the game will feature over a hundred songs. Many of these are created by artists who have worked on previous games in the franchise. Series creator Koichi Ishii also appeared in the video. He talked a little about the process of creating the franchise’s iconic monsters. When discussing exploration, the developers revealed the new “pikuls” that will act as mounts as the player explores the world designed by Ishii.
When is Square Enix’s latest Mana game coming out?
If everything goes according to plan, then it will already be in the summer of 2024. The upcoming release of Visions of Mana on Xbox is an exciting time for JRPG fans playing on the platform. Because this franchise does not traditionally appear on consoles. This surprise release aligns with Square Enix’s plans to bring more games to Xbox.
Last year, the Japanese company confirmed that Final Fantasy XIV would be coming to Xbox in 2024 and that the team would try to bring games to Xbox whenever possible.
In addition to Vision of Mana and Final Fantasy XIV coming to Xbox, SE is also rumoured to bring Final Fantasy VII Remake to Xbox. Currently, the FF7R console is exclusive to Sony platforms. So far, it has only received ports for PCs. However, according to a new rumour, Microsoft and Square Enix executives may be in talks to bring the game to a new audience. However, players should treat these rumours with reservation.
