Jodie Foster almost played Princess Leia in ‘Star Wars’ Now She Tells Why it Didn’t Work Out! [VIDEO]

MOVIE NEWS – Jodie Foster says she almost played Princess Leia in Star Wars, but had timing issues. The actress recalled her Star Wars moment on Wednesday’s The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

“The problem was I was shooting a Disney movie and I didn’t want to back out of the Disney movie because I was already under contract. So I didn’t do it,” Foster said.

That decision resulted in the forgettable 1977 film The Captain’s Treasure, in which Foster played Casey Brown, an orphan who is hired to find a long-lost treasure hidden in a castle in England.

Foster mentioned that Leia’s iconic hairstyle might have been different had she taken the role.

“And they did an amazing job. I don’t know how good I would have been. And I might have had different hair, you know? It might have been pineapple shaped,” Foster said.

Carrie Fisher, who eventually landed the role herself previously confirmed that Foster was considering the role.

“But Jodie Foster was in it… I knew that for sure. Amy Irving and Jodie. And I ended up getting it,” he said.
