The Night Wanderer: From Award-Winning Novel To RPG/Souls-Clone [VIDEO]

Warsaw’s Mighty Koi are working on another game, which is a surprising move from them.

In today’s news we already talked about Thorgal, but here’s another current-gen project from them. The Night Wanderer is a hybrid of the RPG and Soulslike genres, characterized by unique solutions and an innovative approach to tried-and-true mechanics. The game uses level design from Metroidvania games and a combat system from Soulsborne productions that emphasizes dynamic yet tactical gameplay. At the same time, an important aspect of the overall experience is a well-defined, compelling storyline; the game features quest design familiar to avid fans of classic RPGs.

Based on the award-winning novel by Jaroslaw Grzedowicz, players take on the role of Vuko Drakkainen, an elite soldier and mercenary who embarks on a solitary mission to an unknown alien planet. When you play as Vuko, you will take off your spacesuit and don a suit of armor. Several scientists from a previous expedition have gone missing on Midgaard, a planet inhabited by beings that are remarkably reminiscent of our early medieval humans. The planet is surrounded by a radiation field that distorts and damages all forms of advanced technology.

The part of the world where the game takes place bears a strong resemblance to Earth’s Scandinavia. The planet hides many secrets, and its mysterious forces change everything within its reach: creatures, objects, and even people. It significantly influences the world that Vuko travels through and interacts with, as well as key gameplay features such as combat and character interactions. Uncovering the planet’s secrets will reveal what happened to the scientists you seek. During his journey, Vuko will be accompanied by Cyphral – a biological AI connected to the hero’s nervous system, whose purpose is to assist him in his dangerous mission and greatly increase his strength, reflexes and endurance. Cyphral’s presence will help the player face the unknown. Vuko will have to traverse otherworldly lands inhabited by tribes and beasts and uncover what is really happening on this strange, alien world.

The Night Wanderer is coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series and PC. Release date: “when it’s ready”…

Still, she likes puzzle and story-oriented games, like Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments, which is her favourite title. She also played The Sims 3, but after accidentally killing a whole sim family, swore not to play it again. (For our office address, email and phone number check out our IMPRESSUM)
