Street Fighter 6’s next playable character, Akuma, is revealed in a new trailer. It’s coming sometime in the “spring” of this year.
Capcom has shared the first trailer for Street Fighter 6’s next playable fighter, Akuma, who will join the game’s ever-expanding lineup sometime this “spring.”
After Ed’s arrival last month, Akuma will be SF6’s 22nd playable character. The returning fighter – who debuted in 1994’s Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo as a hidden boss in the series – gets a bit of a makeover.
Like many other returning characters, Akuma – the younger brother of Ryu and Ken’s master Gouken – gets a striking new look in SF6. His once-red mane is now turning into a cascade of white hair.
When Akuma joins Street Fighter 6 this “spring,” he’ll be available in Fighting Ground mode. We can also meet him as a master in the World Tour mode. Players can become his apprentice and embark on quests. The World Tour will feature a chance to visit Gokuento’s stage – as seen in Akuma’s reveal trailer above.
According to Capcom, new audio-related features and Battle Hub events are expected as part of the update accompanying Akuma’s arrival. The latter officially marks the end of SF6’s first year of content. According to director Takayuki Nakayama, work on the second year is already underway.
