Atlus (a subsidiary of SEGA) is reportedly planning the next installment of the franchise not only for PlayStation and PC, but also for Microsoft’s console, which is not very common, which makes sense considering Microsoft is an American company and Atlus is a Japanese studio.
Before 2023, there were only TWO appearances of the Persona franchise on Xbox consoles, Persona 4 Arena in 2012 and Persona 4 Arena Ultimax in 2014. And that was it. Then three episodes finally made the jump to Xboxes, and the trio also showed up on Xbox Game Pass. Maybe that’s why Persona 6 could be coming to Xbox Series, according to insider Nate The Hate.
According to him, there will be an Xbox version of the long-awaited new episode of the franchise, but he’s not sure if it will be released at the exact same time as the PlayStation 5 version (it’s not that far away that the next generation of consoles will be in stores by then), but given the multiplatform approach of the franchise’s previous installments, he thinks it’s logical to think that Microsoft and Sony’s consoles will get Persona 6 on the same day.
As for the successor to the Nintendo Switch, Nintendo hasn’t even announced it yet, and it won’t be unveiled until the summer, possibly fall, as rumors suggest that the big N has delayed the hybrid platform’s launch until early 2025. According to another Atlus insider, Persona 3 Reload will appear on Nintendo Switch 2. This is a remake of the RPG that was released on PS2 in 2006. The same person also says that Studio Zero’s first RPG, Metaphor: ReFantazio, announced in 2016 as Project Re Fantasy, will also appear on its Switch successor in 2017.
None of this is official yet, but Microsoft has previously said it would expand to Asia and Japan, and presumably SEGA has received some money to keep Persona on Xbox platforms…
